At the Single Molecule Science node we seek research leaders to develop and drive novel conceptual and experimental approaches for challenging problems in cell biology and immunology. The successful applicant will drive a research project in the Gaus group, support other students and researchers in the group, help define and drive new research directions aligned with the overall goals of the group and the single molecule science unit, and supervise students and research assistants. We seek an experienced, independent-minded postdoctoral researcher, committed to excellent research, with good team building and interpersonal skills, who will help us turn the group’s visions into reality.

 

About the role

  • $91,743 - $98,127 p.a. plus (9.5% superannuation and leave loading)
  • 12 months Fixed Term position with possibility of renewal
  • Full-time

We currently have an exciting position for an experienced individual to join our team as a Postdoctoral Research Scientist. In this role, you will be responsible for driving a research project in the Gaus Group and leading/participating in research at the interface of cell biology, materials science and immunology at the EMBL Australia node in Single Molecule Science at the University of New South Wales (UNSW) in Sydney, Australia. The group uses multiple advanced microscopy techniques, including single molecule localisation and lattice light sheet microscopy, to investigate the molecular mechanisms of T-cell activation and function. The group is also part of the ARC Centre of Excellence in Advanced Molecular Imaging at the University of New South Wales (UNSW) in Sydney, Australia.

About you

Applicants with an inter-disciplinary research background and proven track-record of research excellence, experience in supervision of students and leading research into computational biology or related fields are strongly encouraged.

- To be successful in this role you have:

  • A PhD in molecular immunology, biophysics, cell biology or related field
  • Demonstrated experience in cell biology or biophysics
  • Demonstrated experience in microscopy, experience in advanced microscopy techniques is desirable
  • Demonstrated expertise in the quantitative and/or computational analysis of experimental data
