About the role
This is a casual position working within a multidisciplinary team to deliver child care to children while their parent / carer attends therapeutic group sessions. The successful applicant will be available for 3 hours per week when the groups are in session, usually for an 8 week period.
The Educator will be responsible for ensuring children, aged 0 - 18 months are provided with a high level of care and education that is individual to their specific needs and the needs to the group.
What you would be doing
- You will be supervising, implementing and reflecting developmentally age appropriate experiences for individual and groups of children which reflects the Early Years Learning Framework.
- Use a wide range of teaching methods (stories, media, indoor or outdoor games, drawing etc) to enhance the child’s abilities
- Design and follow a full schedule of activities and routines
- Creating and maintaining an inclusive, fun, safe, healthy, productive and effective learning environment
- Creating and maintaining excellent relationships with children, families, carers and other team members
- Ensuring compliance with routines, policies, processes and practices
Skills and experience
Essential Selection Criteria:
- Certificate III OR Diploma in Education and Care (or equivalent recognised by ACECQA).
- Knowledge and Understanding of the Early Years Learning Framework and an ability to implement developmentally age appropriate learning experiences for children.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to work cooperatively in a team as well as autonomously.
- Ability to demonstrate good time management and organisation skills.
- Understanding of, and commitment to, quality and improvement.
- Current Working with Children Check. Current First Aid Certificate, inclusive of annual CPR component.
