About The Music Bus

We are the Franchisees of 3 Music Buses in the Hunter region. The Music Bus is an exciting and fast-growing provider of school music tuition. The program operates at over 300 schools nationally with over 5,000 children taking part every week. The Music Bus program focuses on contemporary instruments - keyboard, guitar, ukulele, drums, singing and the exciting Rock Band program.

Business Opportunity 

For personal reasons only, we have decided to sell the Maitland/Cessnock branch of the business. We are wanting the right person to buy the territory and be a teaching Music Bus franchisee/business owner, or alternatively a person wanting to buy the franchise and employ a teacher, running the business as a non-teaching franchisee/business owner

Note that all territories in the area (Newcastle, Lake Macquarie, Maitland/Cessnock) are owned so this is a very rare and unique opportunity for the right person to buy one. 

The Music Bus Business System

The Music Bus is a highly developed franchise model. Created in conjunction with Franchise Works, the design and development of your Music Bus is fully organised and facilitated with a fully supported marketing program targeting schools to secure and fill your Music Bus.

What Are You Getting? 

Unlike other new Music Bus Franchisees, such as ourselves when starting out, whereby you only have a bus and territory to start with and no schools or students yet; you will be buying the territory with about 10 schools, 150 students and 4 days (27 hours) of teaching per week, already established and ready to go. After you take out your franchise fees, this generates about $1,700 of revenue per week.

This current business equates to approximately 60% of total teaching/lesson capacity, meaning a moderate teaching income right away but plenty of room for growth.

Having this level of business in place takes an incredible amount of risk out of the purchase. Getting the bus to this level has taken many hours of work which you wont have to do, getting you off to the best possible start; not to mention a great business proposal for the bank, should your require finance. 

As a teaching franchisee you would be earning about $30 per hour or $810 over the week to start. Meaning you would comfortably be able to pay yourself as a teacher right away while building up the business.

• Be in it for the long haul to see overall profits increase. 

As a teacher you would:  

• Have experience in teaching music.
• Be highly proficient in teaching one or more of either keyboard, guitar, ukulele, drums and singing; with some level of proficiency in teaching the others.
• Be able to embrace and use music technology in the classroom.
• Be passionate and enthusiastic about teaching music.
• Have a drivers licence and Working with Children Check (WWCC).

The teaching involves teaching small group music classes from our modern mobile music lab. Comprehensive training and support is provided.

Costs 

The initial outlay of the business includes: 

Territory Franchise Fee
$50,000 + GST 
This is essentially the purchase of the Maitland Cessnock territory, a cost all new Franchisees buying into the business pay.

Current Additional Business Value 
$35,000 + GST
This has been calculated as the approximate value of 1.5 school terms of full lesson fees for current schools and students already enrolled on the bus which is now returning an income.  

Purchase of Bus/Vehicle 
This will be made separate to this sale as a new vehicle will need to be organised through Mercedes and subsequent fit-out suppliers and as such costs will be based on current market prices. The bus and it's fit-out can normally be purchased on a medium term (5 year) lease through Mercedes (and paid as part of your ongoing costs) or alternatively, as part your overall business loan negotiations. You will be offered support from us and Head Office to help you through this process. 

Other costs may include legal fees, insurance etc.
