Position Profile
Title of Position: Early Childhood Teacher
Type of Appointment: Contract Position – 30 to 37.5 hours per week
1. Conditions
Pacific Lutheran Early Learning Service is located at Caloundra on the Sunshine Coast. Established in 2006 as a K-12 coeducational College of the Lutheran Church of Australia, Pacific offers classes from Kindergarten to Year 12.
Salary and related conditions are as per the Children’s Services Award.
2. Role Description
We are seeking an outstanding early childhood teacher to join our team of professionals, to develop the pedagogy and documentation within the Early Years Program.
The person is expected to:
2.1 Deliver a high quality educational program which reflects the Queensland Kindergarten Learning Guidelines and or Early Years Learning Framework.
2.2 Develop positive partnerships with the children, parents and staff to foster an encouraging and effective environment that acknowledges the image of the child, focuses on the holistic development of the child and encourages a lifelong love of learning. The person will need to actively support the Christian ethos of the College.
2.3 Be committed to ongoing professional learning and growth.
2.4 Support the development and maintenance of the Early Learning Service’s policies and procedures.
3. Selection Criteria
SC1. Working knowledge of the Education and Care Services National Law 2010, Regulations 2011, the National Quality Framework Assessment and Rating System, the Queensland Kindergarten Learning Guidelines and or Early Years Learning Framework.
SC2. Demonstrated high levels of skills in communication and consultation that would indicate the capacity to work effectively with people from all sectors of the children’s services community, including management, service leaders, coordinators, school principals, government representatives, families and the wider community.
SC3. Demonstrated knowledge and experience in the development, implementation and evaluation of quality Kindergarten programs for young children which fosters competent, capable, secure creative thinkers.
SC4. An ability to work in a Christian context and provide spiritual leadership to the staff of the service.
SC5. Ability to work independently as well as in a team environment. The proven skills to develop, maintain and challenge a small teaching team.
4. Knowledge and Qualifications
Applicants must have a Bachelor of Education (ECEC) or equiv. and extensive experience with a 2-6year age group. Applicants must also have a current senior first aid, Suitability/Blue Card, experience with the Ratings &Assessment process.
