This is an outstanding opportunity for an experienced music educator to join the Trinity College music team. The focus of this position is to promote the achievement of excellence in the band, choral and ensemble groups across the College. In addition the person who fills this position will be recognised as an exemplary musician and demonstrate excellence in their own performance. The person filling this role will work in conjunction with the Head of Curriculum Music and the Head of Instrumental Music.

A leadership and teaching component would be the most likely combination for the role. This could involve classroom music teaching (for a registered teacher) or being part of the instrumental music program. A part time role is possible for a person with suitable flexibility.  

This College wide music leadership role has three significant responsibilities:

  • the building of a cohesive and committed Co-curricular Music team capable of achieving performance excellence
  • the development, articulation and implementation of the vision for Co-curricular Music
  • the promotion of Co-curricular Music across and beyond the College community

To be successful in this role you will have the following skills and attributes:

  • Suitable tertiary qualifications.  
  • Registered to teach in South Australia or be eligible to obtain registration (If a classroom teaching component is part of the role).
  • Have an understanding of and commitment to Christian education.
  • Have a history of excellence in music performance.
  • Have the desire and skills to participate in the school's pastoral care programme.
  • Have the desire and skills to participate in the College's co-curricular music programme. (This would most likely be as a conductor of concert/stage bands and/or choirs.)
  • Be a passionate advocate for the role of Music teaching as a significant part of the educational offerings to primary and secondary students.
  • Have the interpersonal skills to quickly achieve trust and respect from the teaching team.
  • Be able to set high standards for student learning and teacher performance.
  • Have the ability to communicate effectively with a wide range of people both verbally and in writing.
  • Have high level organisation skills.

Trinity College is a multi-site, independent, co-educational Anglican College founded in a liberal educational tradition and located in the northern Adelaide region. Co-curricular activities (cultural and physical) are part of a total education in a caring, Christian environment.

All teachers are expected to support the Christian ethos of the College. It would be hoped that the successful applicant would be able to actively contribute to the Christian life of the College.

The successful candidate would be able to demonstrate competence at the Highly Accomplished or Lead Teacher level (refer to the AITSL Professional Standards).
