About the business
Harvester Technical College first opened in 2009 to give students the opportunity to build their skills and knowledge in various trade pathways and an integrated VCAL Program, enabling them to graduate with both the technical and personal skills to become work ready employees and apprentices.
Harvester College is a boutique Senior School hosting 170 students in specialised trade programs in years 10-12. The college is located in North Sunshine on Suffolk Rd, but draws students from a much wider area to its specialised programs in Electrotechnology, Engineering and Building and Construction Carpentry and Plumbing. All Pre – Apprenticeship Programs are delivered on site in our state of the art Trade Training Centre that opened in 2014. These programs are combined with an integrated VCAL Program allowing students to focus on the trade they are studying in Literacy and Numeracy as well.
About the role
The role will be teaching VET Plumbing at Certificate II level. The successful applicant will also be required to further develop and implement curriculum content for competency based assessment. The applicant will be required to work as a team with other teachers and staff.
Most of the teaching will be in our workshops and requires the applicant to have high level skills in delivering technology programs that engage young people and have pathways into our senior programs.
The classroom teacher classification comprises two salary ranges- range 1 and range 2 The primary focus of the classroom teacher is on the planning, preparation and teaching of programs to achieve specific student outcomes. The classroom teacher engages in critical reflection in order to improve knowledge and skills to better engage students and improve their learning.
As the classroom teacher gains experience his or her contribution to the school program beyond the classroom increases.
All classroom teachers may be required to undertake other duties in addition to their rostered teaching duties provided the responsibility is appropriate to the salary range, qualifications, training and experience of the teacher.

progress - Implementing effective student management consistent with the
school vision. - Working with a mentor to participate in professional development
planning, implementation and reflection developing a professional
portfolioQualifications Required:
- Bachelor of Education (Secondary) with Technology as one method (or Graduate Diploma equivalent) or Permission to Teach from the VIT
- Certificate IV in Training and Assessment
- Certificate III iPlumbing
- Relevant trade and industry experience
