Whole of School Educational Psychologist and Counsellor
The primary purpose of the position of Educational Psychologist and Counsellor is to provide specialist educational psychology services to students in Reception to Year 12 to inform and support learning needs and to develop specific educational strategies.
The secondary purpose of the position is to provide initial counselling at a general level and referrals to external clinical psychology services as required.
This position operates in close collaboration with the Careers and Guidance Counsellor to emphasise the value the School places on the development of a collaborative learning environment that is student-focused.
Mandatory requirements for this role are:
- Fully registered psychologist with the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA). (Qualified Teacher and registered with the Queensland College of Teachers desirable);
- Minimum of 5 years previous experience in a school counselling setting;
- Understanding of current theory and research relating to the education of boys and young men;
- Demonstrated experience in dealing appropriately, and calmly, with highly confidential and sensitive information;
- Eligibility to work and reside in Australia.
All staff at Churchie are expected to support the philosophies of the School, must either hold or be able to obtain a Blue Card and/or be registered with the Queensland College of Teachers.
