Damascus College has an opportunity for an experienced Teaching professional with a real passion for leading and implementing contemporary College-wide Student Wellbeing programs.
The successful applicant for this position will be joining the Damascus Leadership team at an exciting time of team formation and strategic planning activity. 2019 will see the commencement of a new POL appointment period for all second-tier Leadership positions, which presents a wonderful opportunity for renewal and refocus.
The Assistant Principal – Student Wellbeing position has a leadership portfolio, encompassing our innovative pastoral care structure which supports 1060 plus students and their families, the School Counselling/Wellbeing function, and our Sports and Performing Arts departments. The alignment of these program areas within this Student Wellbeing function contributes intrinsically to improved student engagement and success at school and connectivity with the entire College community.
Given the nature of the portfolio, it will be imperative that the successful applicant has the ability to balance the strategic requirements with the operational, hands-on demands of this position. The successful applicant must demonstrate experience in coaching and mentoring staff, engaging and developing teams and inspiring and nurturing young people in similar Christ-centred learning communities.
This position reports to the Principal and Deputy Principal, and will be assigned a teaching load of up to three classes, in areas relevant to experience and ability. The appointment will carry an initial term of three years with a further three year term available upon successful review of key performance criteria. An ongoing teaching appointment will be offered to the successful applicant.
