ABOUT MUIC

Macquarie University International College (MUIC) provides students an alternate pathway to a number of the University's mainstream undergraduate degree offerings.

The college offers 4 Diploma Programs; Accounting, Commerce and Business Administration, Engineering, IT or Media and Communication. Successful completion of a Diploma program enables students to enter the second year of selected undergraduate degree programs.

THE DELIVERY MODEL

MUIC offers an intensive delivery model contained within a 6 week Term which has 6 teaching weeks and 6 teaching Terms in the academic year. Students undertake two units in a Term. Please refer to Macquarie University’s unit guide archives for further details about the unit.

EMPLOYMENT OPPORTUNITY

Expressions of interest are currently invited from appropriately qualified and professionally experienced people to undertake teaching during day and/or evening sessions in Term 4, Term 5 and Term 6 2018 on WECO111 (Microeconomic Principles), WSTA150 (Business Statistics) and WACT101 (Finance 1A). These units are equivalent to Macquarie University Undergraduate units ECON111, STAT150 and ACST101 respectively.

  • Term 4 2018 classes commence date is July 30
  • Term 5 2018 classes commence date is October 8
  • Term 6 2018 classes commence date is December 3

Applicants must be available during the whole term, including final exam marking and results submission. For more information about the teaching and term dates, please refer to the Macquarie University International College important dates page.

Exact class times will not be available until close to the term start date. When you submit your EOI you will need to indicate the term(s) when you will be available/interested in teaching. If your EOI is successful, you will be promoted to provide your exact availability.

Appointed staff will be expected to prepare and deliver lessons, undertake student consultation, closely monitor student progress and attendance, write and mark assessments, supervise in class assessments, manage and submit results, participate in staff and moderation meetings and liaise with administrative and other teaching staff.

GENERAL REQUIREMENTS

Ideally all applicants will possess the following:

  • A recognised degree relevant to the unit taught, at a level above the program teaching on. (Relevant experience may also be taken into consideration)
  • 2 years relevant full-time equivalent Australian teaching experience
  • Experience teaching students from non-English speaking backgrounds.
  • A formal qualification in the delivery of education
  • Experience in the use of Moodle and a range of other learning technologies
  • Experience in writing and setting assessment tasks and managing results
  • Demonstrated strong interpersonal and communication skills and an ability to work independently and collaboratively with others
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment
