The Position
The Learning Support Unit sits within BKI's Foundation Skills and Pathways Portfolio. This role is an exciting opportunity to shape a cross- institute approach to improving student retention and outcomes.
This is a teaching role, aimed at providing contextualised Language, Literacy and Numeracy (LLN) programs to support students studying a variety of vocational qualifications.
Successful applicants will also have:
- Demonstrated capability to translate the Language, Literacy and/or Numeracy requirements of VET courses into meaningful terms for TAFE students
- Demonstrated experience in working with the TAFE student cohort (Primary or Secondary school training an advantage or those with VETiS or LLN practitioner experience)
- Strong administrative skills and an ability to respond to reporting requirements
- An interest in and capacity for programme innovation and leadership
- A desire to establish or advance a career in the Vocational training sector
Key Selection Criteria:
- Demonstrated knowledge, skills and experience in planning, delivering and developing inspirational English and or/ Maths educational programs and resources (including online) to VET students within mainstream VET courses.
- Demonstrated expertise in mediating between student current LLN skill sets and the target skills they need to develop across a range of TAFE courses (Construction, Electrical, Auto, Health)
- Experience in working cross-institute with colleagues to improve students' educational outcomes
- Ability to work collaboratively, deliver results and support other team members.
- Ability to teach within the full range of Learning Support Certificates (Foundation Skills Training) preferred
- Demonstrated ability to adhere to the teaching and quality frameworks specific to course, State and National standards and principles, strongly preferred along with capability to meet all VET reporting requirements and timelines.
Qualifications required for this role include:
- TAE40116: Certificate IV in Training and Assessment, or equivalent
- Undergraduate degree plus teaching qualification
or trade qualification with Adult Literacy qualification and at least 2 years teaching LLN in TAFE
- A valid Working with Children Check (WWC) or evidence of application
