About us

The Sydney Business and Travel Academy (SBTA) is one of Sydney's leading Vocational Education and Training Colleges in the CBD operating for over 30 years.  We specialise in delivering Vocational Education and Training and English language courses via our sister school "The Sydney English Language Academy (SELA)" to international students

 

About the Role

This is a full time position and in this role you will be the focal point of contact for students at the Academy. A high level of customer service is required together with an understanding of student needs, ability to communicate effectively with both local and international students from a cross-cultural environment. You will need to be familiar with RTO and CRICOS regulatory requirements and have experience in the use of a College Management System.

 

Your responsibilities include:

  • Student orientation for VET and ELICOS faculties.
  • Counsel students on their academic performance and attendance.
  • Implement intervention strategies to ensure students meet their course progress.
  • Co-ordinate and organise student assessment resubmissions and make-up classes.
  • Organise assistance for students with special needs in consultation with trainers.
  • Assess the need for extra student tuition.
  • Enter students results into the College Management System.
  • Verify and issue final qualifications.
  • Assess and process student leave applications.
  • Counsel students with grievances.
  • Organise homestay placement with marketing team.
  • Co-ordinate student practical placement in Hospitality industry.
  • Contribute to the accreditation and compliance process, including ASQA audits, renewals and extensions.
  • Assist with transitioning students to updated qualifications
  • Provide assistance and support to the reception staff.
  • Ensure all assessments are catalogued and archived.

 

  • Essential Criteria
  • Relevant tertiary or similar qualification in administration
  • Knowledge and understanding of Australian government legislation relating to the provision of educational services to international students.
  • A strong customer focus and ability to consult and liaise with stakeholders in a cross-cultural environment.
  • Must have strong compassion for students from a diverse background and culture
  • Ability to accept responsibility.
  • High motivation and a sound work ethic
  • Be well organised and be able to work to deadlines
  • Be able to resolve conflict effectively
  • High level of computer competency and experience using College Student Management Systems
  • Have a strong command of written and spoken English (both verbal and written) with all stakeholders.
  • Ability to work both independently as part of a team with minimal supervision
  • Demonstrated experience in Vocational Education and Training and competency based training.
  • Strong interpersonal skills, punctuality and professional grooming.
