Inclusion Professional, IA Geelong - Part Time

The Programme

KU is part of the Victorian Inclusion Agency Consortium (VIAC) together with Yooralla and Community Child Care Association (Lead agency). VIAC receive Australian Government funding to operate the state-wide Victorian Inclusion Agency (IA) as part of the Inclusion Support Programme (ISP). The ISP "supports mainstream ECEC services to improve their capacity and capability to provide quality inclusive practices, address participation barriers and include children with additional needs alongside their typically developing peers". 

The Inclusion Support Programme is underpinned by a set of guiding principles that include: inclusion; equity of access; national consistency; an integrated approach; a strengths-based approach; self-sustaining and resilience of ECEC services. Consortium members are committed to safeguarding and empowering children in all our work.

VIAC's purpose is to work collaboratively with all Victorian ECEC services to enhance their capacity and capability in inclusive practice excellence to ensure their services are reflective of and responsive to all children and families in their community. VIAC's vision is that all Victorian children can meaningfully and actively participate in an ECEC service of their family's choice in their community. 

The role on offer

This is an opportunity for early childhood trained teachers or Diploma qualified educators who have a passion for working in inclusion to join KU as an Inclusion Professional. On a contract basis until June 2019 within our Geelong Inclusion Hub that covers regions like Geelong, Queenscliff, Colac-Otway's through to Warnambool. The Geelong Inclusion Hub has limited onsite parking and street parking available.  

As the Inclusion Professional your aim is to support educators in federally funded education and care services to increase their capacity and capability to embed inclusive practices within their service. You will identify strengths, capacity and capability of educators to ensure that support provided is tailored to educator and ECEC service needs.

You will work to promote a clear understanding of inclusion, which focuses on all children being seen as capable and contributing in their environment. The position involves working closely with other Inclusion Agency team members to deliver inclusion support, which is flexible and responsive to the needs of ECEC services within the jurisdiction and in accordance with the ISP Guidelines.

To be successful in this position, you will have the following essential criteria:

  • Bachelor in Early Childhood Education or Social Sciences or significant relevant experience supported by a Diploma.
  • Thorough understanding of the differences between inclusion, integration, micro exclusion and macro exclusion.
  • Demonstrated current knowledge of the early/middle childhood sector, including knowledge of the National Quality Framework.
  • Ability to facilitate change through the use of reflective practice and a strengths based approach.
  • Ability to work independently as well as within a team.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of and experience with using standard computer software, such as Microsoft Office.
  • Current drivers licence and use of a comprehensively insured, registered motor vehicle.

There are two positions on offer both fixed term contract until end of June 2019 (due to current funding) and offered as a 4 day, 8 hours per day part time position. On offer is a generous salary package with a range of benefits including:
