Purpose of the role

  • The purpose of L&D Consultant role is to build and uplift staff capabilities within the Paraplanning and Advice Creation Teams (ACT); and assist in delivering the vision of the Advice Education, Capability & Careers team to improve the time to competence for all staff. This generalist role requires you to play a pivotal part in assisting and promoting a learning and performance culture within the broader Paraplanning business.
  • The role requires you to co-ordinate, manage and drive innovative training interventions to help Paraplanning and ACT leaders and team members deliver high quality and efficient service to our adviser network and business partners.  A key achievement of the role is to equip Paraplanning and ACT staff with the appropriate knowledge and skills to effectively perform their roles through the development and implementation of agreed learning solutions.

Focus areas

  • Demonstrated level of proficiency in training needs analysis, skill gap analysis, design, development, delivery and evaluation of learning and development initiatives
  • Co-ordinate, manage and maintain learning programs and projects for Paraplanning and ACT teams, including tools and capability frameworks that support the effective transfer of learning
  • Develop and maintain strong consulting relationships with key internal stakeholders at all levels. Specifically, L&D Operations & Technology, Advice Education, Capability & Careers, and other learning functions across the AMP business
  • Develop and embed new frameworks, systems and tools for the paraplanning team (skills matrices, learner guides, process maps)
  • Maintain a learning dashboard and conduct scorecard analysis to identify potential skill and knowledge gaps for Paraplanning and ACT staff with a view to continuous improvement
  • Conduct training needs analysis with recommendations of existing and potential training solutions to follow
  • Innovate and develop learning interventions, (using adult learning principles) to achieve set targets of improvement in competence and capability
  • Deliver induction programs, technical training (cross-skilling & upskilling) and behavioural training, utilising a blend of delivery approaches and learning tools
  • Manage and implement learning interventions for Paraplanning and ACT projects, and update any relevant content that already exist and must be maintained
  • Liaise with L&D Operations team to maintain all content to ensure it is relevant and up-to-date; track version controls with appropriate levels of authority for all learning materials
  • Measure the impact and effectiveness of learning interventions post-delivery. Identify trends and make necessary adjustments
  • Keep up to date with legislative, regulatory and industry trends and ensure all relevant changes are reflected appropriately in training materials and other relevant policies and processes
  • Participate in the scoping and development of training plans/scope documents for projects
  • Act as a change agent to support the Paraplanning and ACT business in driving change initiatives via the delivery of learning and development solutions

  Role specific capabilities

  • Strong knowledge of adult learning principles
  • Ability to conduct learning needs analyses, design, develop, deliver and evaluate training solutions
  • Act as a control point into different learning teams and projects to co-ordinate customised learning solutions to bridge gaps
  • Access the learning “ecosystem” in play; identify and interact with key stakeholders in a consultancy capacity
  • Strong communication skills and relationship management/negotiation skills with all layers of management
  • Take ownership of the Induction/ Upskilling/ Project processes for the Paraplanning business
  • Work as an effective team player, supporting and communicating with leaders and peers; recognise the contribution of others to ensure achievement of team goals
  • Ability to manage and play a pivotal role in the change management process
  • Sound project management skills and ability to interpret technical content into learning solutions for Paraplanning staff
  • Business savvy mindset to identify and prioritise learning interventions to drive business results
  • Leverage and build L&D competence and consistent deployment of systems and frameworks through the SME channels within the business
  • Ability to anticipate, prioritise and deal with issues proactively and decisively, to ensure work is completed within agreed timeframes

Experience required

  • Strong understanding of adult learning principles
  • L&D experience in design, development, delivery and assessment of learning interventions
  • Strong stakeholder management
  • Experience working within change projects with an L&D lens
  • Financial Services experience
  • Experience in using project methodology

Qualification/s required

  • Certificate IV in Training and Assessment or tertiary Adult Education
  • Experience in Financial Services Industry
  • Diploma in Financial Planning (desirable, willing to undertake the qualification)
