Full Time - Permanent Position

Kambu Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Corporation for Health ('Kambu Health') is an Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Community Controlled Health Service which provides primary and specialist health care and associated Community services throughout the Ipswich and surrounding West Moreton region. Kambu Health incorporates general and specialist clinics and also community orientated family programs focussed on education, nutrition, immunisation, antenatal, chronic disease, social and emotional wellbeing, optometry, podiatry, hearing and health promotions.

The Opportunity

We are looking for a highly motivated, experienced and suitably qualified individual to fulfil the key position of Early Childhood Teacher and deliver hands-on Kindergarten programs while also supporting the 'day to day' running of our Community Controlled Early Years Learning Centre located at Silkstone (Ipswich).

This is an impressive opportunity to join a well regarded Kindergarten and also our enthusiastic and committed Kambu team during a most exciting phase and the latest expansion of our established 'Early Years' range of programs and services.  

Kambu, in cooperation with our affiliates and partners, is embarking on this venture to continue our proven track record of making a difference in the lives of local community families and to impact positively on educational, lifestyle and pre-schooling outcomes in the West Moreton area.  

The key responsibilities and duties of the position include:

  • Plan, develop and deliver Kindergarten curriculum activities and associated programs in compliance with relevant standards including National Quality Framework (NQF) and Australian Children's Education & Care Quality Authority (ACECQA) ;
     
  • Perform duties and responsibilities associated with the day to day operation of the Kindergarten including (but not limited to) acting as 'Certified Supervisor', leadership, mentoring, administration, reporting and the supervision of Trainees / Student Placements;
     
  • Ownership and responsibility for the provision and implementation of quality programs referencing  the Crèche & Kindergarten Association Qld (C&K) 'Building Waterfalls' guidelines and supporting documentation, ensuring each child's learning is visible through portfolios, and reflective practices;
     
  • Support and guide all Kambu and visiting Educators to work according to Kambu Health's policies and procedures and mentor, coach and work with all educators to meet the requirements of their position descriptions
     
  • Actively develop and maintain open and collaborative relationships with all families, encouraging and embracing parent participation within the program(s);
     
  • Act as a 'Children's Champion' and advocate for early childhood leadership within our service and also the wider community, representing Kambu Amaroo Kindergarten when required; and
     
  • In consultation with Kambu management, review, revise and update relevant internal policies and operating procedures when and/or as required.

Key Requirements / Qualifications include:

  • Bachelor of Education (Early Childhood) or equivalent recognised qualification combined with 2-5 years relevant Teaching and / or Director experience in an accredited early childhood setting;
     
  • Current 'Certified Supervisor' accreditation (Early Childhood) including demonstrated knowledge of relevant legislation, regulations and compliance expectations relating to the successful operation of an Early Childhood facility / centre including NQF and ACECQA;
     
  • A well-developed understanding of theories of early childhood development including current research and contemporary developments impacting on the profession and delivery of programs;
     
  • Demonstrated ability to develop, plan and implement a high quality, educational and child-centred program, meeting the needs of each child.
     
  • The proven ability to relate and interact successfully with individuals of various ages and a diverse range of social and economic backgrounds;
     
  • Well-developed supervisory, negotiation, administration and communication skills;
     
  • Demonstrated understanding of the principles of cultural effectiveness and the incorporation of 'cultural safety' considerations in the development of educational programs and / or services; and
     
  • An understanding of Aboriginal & Torres Strait Islander societies and cultures and the ability to influence, promote and enhance health and positive outcomes for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people in partnership with government and non-government organisations.
