Youth Futures has been providing support services in Perth since 1988 and have been delivering appropriate education programs for at-risk young people since 2001. 

We are seeking a passionate and suitably experienced Coordinator/ Trainer/Teacher/Education Officer to join our multidisciplinary team at our  Anchor Point Bassendean/Ballajura sites. You will be responsible for the day to day management of the program and particularly for ensuring the curriculum is delivered/assessed and processed in accordance with the requirement of an RTO. You will be experienced in VET/RTO requirements and be able to coordinate the program from a daily operational basis including planning and timetabling. You will also assist where required in development of learning materials and the delivery of CGEA packages are paramount to your success in this role.

Anchor Point is designed to re-engage and support young people who have had difficulty in attending mainstream education.  The goal for Anchor Point is to ensure that students achieve relevant education certificates (CGEA 1 & 2) and possess the personal and social skills required to move onto the next stage, be that TAFE, employment, training or apprenticeships.


The successful candidate will be experienced in working with young people who have been unable to succeed and have disengaged from mainstream education. You will be passionate about reengaging these students through the fostering of positive and professional relationships.

You will be flexible and able to adapt to the many and diverse needs of working with "at risk" young people in an educational setting, ensuring your practice is consistent with cultural, gender, developmental and other individual needs.  You will be comfortable working one on one with young people as well as being able to facilitate group activities and skills development sessions.

The position requires a staff member who can work effectively as an individual and as member of a team who operate within a multidisciplinary framework.  The position also requires sound engagement skills and the ability to establish and develop professional relationships that support families and assists student academic and personal achievement.  The Coordinator will be comfortable working with young people dealing with issues such as mental health, drug and alcohol use, and challenging behaviour as well as managing a small staff team.

You will be required to work in partnership with other support agencies as well as District Education Offices. The successful candidate will also possess high level written and interpersonal skills and be competent in using Microsoft and other computer programs.  Prior knowledge of education, training pathways, minimum school leaving requirements and alternative education programs is desirable. Previous experience delivering the Certificates in General Education Adults (1&2) would be an advantage.

The position is based in Bassendean/Ballajura (Mon-Thur) and Joondalup (Fri, Administration day).

Qualifications 

  • Certificate IV in Training and Assessment TAE40116 or
  • Certificate IV in Training and Assessment TAE40110 and the units TAELLN411/TAELLN411A and TAEASS502/TAEASS502A/TAEASS502B (Current)

Other requirements 

  • Youth Work, Social Work or an appropriate Community Services qualification 
  • AQF Level 7 or above teaching qualification, or the CGEA III  or a formal relevant qualification that demonstrates knowledge of the theory of literacy and numeracy development and its application
  • Valid First Aid Certificate
  • Valid National Police Clearance
  • Valid Working with Children's Check 
  • Current 'C' class WA driver's licence


The position is to commence as soon as possible. Youth Futures is a registered charity and can offer excellent Fringe Benefits opportunities including salary sacrifice. The base Full Time rate for this position is $70,000 to $81,791 depending on qualifications and experience.
