As part of the Phase 2 State Literacy Numeracy Success Action Plan and the Catholic Education Commission NSW 2017 Implementation Plan, St Michael’s is seeking a passionate Instructional Leader to join its school community.

This position is responsible for providing Instructional Leadership through professional learning for teachers in literacy and numeracy, differentiated teaching and tiered intervention for students, and the ongoing monitoring of literacy and numeracy progress. The Instructional Leader reports to the Principal and is a member of the school leadership team.

SELECTION CRITERIA

  • Commitment to excellence as a classroom teacher with high expectations for student learning
  • Demonstrated extensive pedagogical content knowledge in literacy and numeracy K-2 and ability and skill to lead teachers to transform practice
  • A good understanding of EAL/D pedagogy and the use of data to identify and address student needs
  • Ability to work as a team member to build the capacity of K-2 teachers by promoting and modelling practice that has maximum impact on student literacy and numeracy development
  • Experience in mentoring teachers through sharing ideas about the creation, selection and use of appropriate literacy and numeracy teaching strategies and resources
  • Proven skills in managing the collection and effective analysis of data to inform teaching and learning for improving student literacy and numeracy outcomes K-2
  • Ability to work collaboratively with the school’s Literacy/Numeracy Coach to initiate, promote and lead high quality professional learning within the school
  • Highly effective organisational and communication skills and proficiency with technology

This position is classified as a Coordinator role and the level is determined by the successful applicant’s experience and or qualifications. This is a full-time contract position ending December 2020.
