About the School – Head of Maths – Romford, Havering
Located in the up and coming East London borough of Havering on the border with Essex, this Ofsted Outstanding school has been on a path of rapid improvement over the past 10 years which last year saw it produce its best ever GCSE results with 74% of all students gaining at least 5 A-C grades including Maths and English. The school has recently appointed a new head teacher following retirement of the head who was credited with transforming the school which has opened up a whole raft of exciting opportunities to take the school through the next stage of its development. Key to this will be the appointment of a new head of department for the Maths faculty replacing the current HOD who moves on after 6 years at the school. The Maths department at this school performs above expectations on a yearly basis and has an excellent mixture of experienced and newly qualified teachers who are keen to achieve the best possible outcomes for each student. This school has a robust behaviour policy and as such behaviour issues and the need for sanctions are minimal. This is a great example of a successful inner city school providing a great education for its students.
About the Role – Head of Maths – Romford, Havering
Head of Maths is an extremely important role for this school. The department is performing well at both Key stage 3 and 4 and the teachers are highly dedicated but someone who is able to support and develop them further will be key in ensuring the continued success of the maths faculty. The incoming HOD must be an excellent teacher who is able to lead by example and who is willing to share their knowledge and good practice with all. The school is happy to see applications from those currently running a department as well as those who have held whole school responsibility and are making the step up.
