We are seeking a passionate and experienced part-time Assistant Coordinator to join our highly regarded Centre, that genuinely cares about our people.  This is an exciting and highly sought after role for a skilled leader in the early childhood profession.

 

About us

Monash Children's Centre is a not-for-profit, community-based, 109 place centre, offering Long Day Care and an integrated Kindergarten program. We pride ourselves on our commitment to and passion for the early childhood field.  Our Centre is friendly, supportive and has a strong belief in children learning through play.  We have been awarded with an Exceeding National Standards rating in all areas of our National Quality Standards review.  Our landscaped gardens, large rooms and outdoor decking areas allows educators to plan creatively and offer indoor/outdoor programs.  The centre is well equipped, with a high emphasis on natural and recycled materials.

 

The role

We are looking for an experienced leader who thrives in a team environment to join our leadership team as an assistant coordinator.  You will have a strong and capable approach, which values reciprocal relationships with families and educators to obtain the best outcomes for children and the Centre.  The successful candidate will work in partnership with the coordinators of the Centre, ensuring that our vision and practices align with our philosophy, Code of Ethics, Early Years Learning Framework and the National Quality Standards.  A sound understanding of business structure, financial management and reporting to relevant authorities and personnel is required. 

 

This ongoing position is for 24 hours per week.  The successful applicant will be remunerated with above award pay rates and conditions including opportunities for extensive professional development including conferences.  Given the nature of our relationship to the University, the centre is open on some public holidays and closes for 3 weeks over the end of year shut down period.  The centre is a signed party to the Professional Childcare Standard. 

 

Qualifications, skills and experience

The position description has the full list of selection criteria. In summary, you will have:

  • Significant experience in a leadership position within an early childhood service
  • Diploma of Early Childhood Education and Care (or equivalent)
  • Deep understanding of National Law and Regulations, EYLF, VEYLDF, VELS, NQS, OH&S, CCMS
  • Demonstrated skills and experience in a range of areas important for early childhood centre management, including pedagogy, communication, administration, problem solving and staff leadership
  • Certificates and Checks: Certified Supervisor, Working with Children, National Police Record, First Aid, Asthma and Anaphylaxis
