Newcastle Business School is the larger of 2 schools within the Faculty of Business and Law. The School teaches in Newcastle City, Ourimbah, Sydney, Online and offshore.

These scholars have strong research records within the individual fields and in multidisciplinary projects. There is a particularly strong tradition of close relationships with regional and national practitioners in these fields. 

About the role

The Lecturer contributes to the delivery of the University’s Strategic Plan in the fields of Human Resource Management and/or Employment Relations as a key member of the Newcastle Business School providing excellence in Research and Innovation, Teaching and Learning, and Service and Engagement. The Lecturer combines sound academic research expertise with undergraduate and postgraduate teaching experience, is expected to be a course coordinator, and is gaining recognition for their contribution to research, teaching, and postgraduate supervision, and is contributing to community engagement. The lecturer will work closely with regional and national practitioners in Human Resource Management (HRM) and Employment Relations (ER).

This role is a full time, ongoing position.

Skills and experience

To be considered for this position you will need to address the following Essential Criteria:

  1. A PhD in Human Resource Management or Employment Relations.
  2. Demonstrated experience in delivering quality research outputs at a national level in Human Resource Management and/or Employment Relations.
  3. Demonstrated experience in the development, delivery and review of undergraduate and postgraduate courses and degree programs in Human Resource Management and/or Employment Relations, including the incorporation of contemporary research methods, digital learning platforms, and interdisciplinary approaches.
  4. Highly developed interpersonal and communication skills including the ability to participate in a team environment.
  5. Willingness and ability to contribute to governance, organisational administration (including course coordination) and initiatives/activities within the University.
  6. Knowledge of, and experience in adhering to workplace policies and procedures in the areas of work health safety, equity, diversity and promoting a respectful workplace culture.
  7. Ability to mentor and supervise undergraduate, honours and postgraduate students;

Level B from $95,351 plus contributory superannuation with Unisuper, attracting a generous employer contribution of 17%.
