For 100 years the Queen Elizabeth Centre (QEC) has provided specialised care, support and guidance to help parents manage the many challenges that arise during early parenthood, from before birth until 48 months. QEC advocates child focused and family-centred practices underpinned by a philosophy that family is the principal source of care for children, offering services and programs that are culturally relevant and accessible to all clients.

We work in partnership with families to understand their challenges and develop strategies to overcome them. Our programs might include a one, five or ten day residential program at QEC Noble Park, intensive in home support or involvement in a ten week, or ongoing group program. Parents experience a real life in confidence when they experience these strategies in action. The team at QEC also work with families to connect them to services and support in their own communities.

Many of our families are exposed to serious adversity including family violence, trauma, alcohol and substances abuse and mental health problems leading to reduced capacity to provide safe, consisted parenting. Our programs support families to achieve better life outcomes for their children, transform and develop family resilience and community connections.

We are keen to hear from Early Childhood Professionals interested in joining QEC's community services working within our Parenting and Skills Development Program (PASD) based in our northern region. This role will involve working with families in their homes, providing holistic assistance, support and effective skills development to enhance families' parenting competencies. You will be responsible for improving parents' knowledge, skills and attitudes as well as build the ability of parents to meet their children's health, safety and developmental needs.

To be considered for this role you will possess:

  • Associate Diploma in Child Care Studies, Enrolled Nurse Level 1 (Mothercraft Nurse) or equivalent qualification in a human services discipline
  • Experience in working with families in the health/welfare sector
  • Experience working in community settings such as home based family services and/or long day child care
  • Excellent communication, organisational and time management skills

In return you will be offered a great working environment, excellent training and support, company car (during work hours), mobile, laptop, attractive hourly rate, 25 day's annual leave (pro rata) and salary packaging.
