In Western Australia we run Acacia Prison. In Queensland we operate the Southern Queensland Correctional Centre and in New Zealand we manage Auckland South Corrections Facility.
About the Team
Acacia Prison is Western Australia’s largest prison located approximately 50 km east of Perth. The medium security facility operated by Serco is responsible for the management of approximately 1,400 male prisoners. We take pride in our prisoner rehabilitation programs, safety record, service delivery to our customers and our pro-social learning environment.
We are seeking applications from suitably experienced and qualified professionals to fill the position of a full time Vocational Trainer for Horticulture/Market Gardening, reporting to the Manager Education and Vocational Training/ Vocational Team Leader.
The Position
As a Trainer, your primary purpose will be to deliver training activities that engage and meet learning objectives. Ultimately all activities will contribute to the overall performance of the Education and Vocational Training Department. Specifically this positions key role is to deliver Horticulture/Market Gardening skills. You will be expected to fit in with the teaching and assessment schedule already developed with the aim of developing resources designed for our specific cohort. Your ability to work closely with other vocational trainers is essential.
Key accountabilities include but are not limited to:
• Prepare, rewrite and review training schedules and resources
• Deliver scheduled training
• Training style is adaptive to prisoner needs and supports the responsible prisoner model
• Training methods enhances the learning environment
• Professional standards meet agreed performance goals,
• Ensure that training administrative requirements of document and data management are maintained in accordance with Serco, Department of Justice, and compliance standards
• RTO Compliance
Qualifications and Experience:
• Relevant teaching qualifications - Certificate IV in Training and Assessment (TAE40110)
• At least 2 years’ experience trainer and assessor of VET delivery OR
• Demonstrate considerable work experience in horticulture and market garden training
