The College of Design and Social Context encompasses RMIT University's renowned art, communication, built environment, design, education and social science disciplines and is comprised of seven Schools. The College has 24,500 students and 1,000 staff.

The School of Property, Construction and Project Management has undergraduate programs in Construction Management, Project Management, Property and Valuation; postgraduate coursework and research degrees in Property, Construction and Project Management. The School has 800 undergraduate students and 350 students in the postgraduate programs onshore. The School also runs an offshore program in conjunction with the Singapore Institute of Management, and VTC in Hong Kong.

The Role and Your Responsibilities

The Research Fellow will work with research teams and partnerships in the Sustainable Building Innovation Lab (SBi Lab). You will be required to undertake research activities in line with the University’s research strategy and the specific research project plan. In particular, you will work in the area of energy, ventilation and indoor air quality performance of buildings as well as urban microclimate studies. The position will carry out independent and/or team research which has a significant impact in the area of building science and be acknowledged at a national level as being influential in expanding the knowledge of the discipline.

The Research Fellow’s role is primarily to plan, develop and engage in high quality building science research projects that are aligned with the research partnership between SBi Lab and partners. You will embed your research expertise into the projects through the development of high-quality, productivity-driven research networks across RMIT and with local and national, internal and external partners. Research Fellows will be expected to engage in high quality research projects, to achieve success in attracting research funding and to produce high quality outputs.

Skills & Experience Required

You will have a PhD or equivalent experience in a relevant field as well as experience in building science research. You will be well versed with monitoring and assessment; analyses and evaluation of energy and indoor environmental quality performance of buildings. You will have demonstrated ability to manage stakeholders in an active client and industry partnered research environment and the ability to build effective networks with colleagues and generate alternative funding projects through effective liaison with industry and government.
