We are currently seeking an exceptional Lecturer with scholarly expertise in Cyber Security Policy to join the Department of Security Studies and Criminology

The Department of Security Studies and Criminology (SSC) sits within the Faculty of Arts, operates as a high-level, cross-disciplinary department offering undergraduate and postgraduate courses, occasional expert seminars and opportunities for research in the many areas associated with security studies and criminology. SSC draws together senior academics and leading industry professionals specialising in research, theory and practice associated with security, protecting both the national interest and the rights of individuals and groups within society. The current areas of teaching and research centre on security and strategic studies, cyber security, intelligence, terrorism, and criminology.

The Role

The Department has an opportunity for an Associate Lecturer or Lecturer with scholarly knowledge in the discipline are of cyber security and policy. The successful applicant will be expected to make a contribution to research; develop, teach and convene units in cyber security and policy at a postgraduate and undergraduate level, while supervising Higher Degree Research students (for Lecturers). The applicant will also be expected to engage with government and industry stakeholders, and to make an active contribution to the administration of the Department, Faculty and University.

Selection Criteria
To be considered for this position, the applicant will demonstrate the below requirements in their CV and a 1-2 page cover letter:

Essential:

• A PhD or near PhD completion in a relevant discipline;
• Demonstrated success in high-quality research in cyber security, including cybercrime and espionage, domestic and international cyber policy, and cyber warfare;
• Demonstrated success in teaching cyber security policy at undergraduate and postgraduate level including the ability to develop scholarly and innovative approaches to teaching and learning, particularly in an online environment;
• Demonstrated ability to supervise higher degree research students;
• A record of contributing, or capacity to contribute, to administration in a University or professional setting and to interact effectively within these settings;
• A record of enhancing, or capacity to enhance, the University's reputation through engagement with relevant external stakeholders.

Salary Package: Associate Lecturer (Level A) from $71,781 to $96,655 p.a. or Lecturer (Level B), from $101,877 to $120,537 p.a., plus 17% employer's superannuation and annual leave loading.
