SILVER TREE STEINER SCHOOL, PERTH HILLS, WA
The Mission of Silver Tree Steiner School:
To provide pre-school and primary education and care for children in the Perth Hills region, based on the pedagogy and indications of Rudolf Steiner.
Silver Tree Steiner School has 200+ students and approximately 30 enthusiastic staff from pre- Kindergarten to Class 6. The school is located on 25 acres of semi-rural land in the peaceful natural bush area of Parkerville, WA. The school first started in 1997 as a playgroup in the hills of Darlington, and has developed into the thriving school today. There is a rich and committed school community with keen involvement in developing the land and utilising the natural resources as a sustainable school. Silver Tree is an independent, co-educational and non-sectarian day school, welcoming children from all backgrounds and cultures. Children can go on to the Perth Waldorf School for their high school years.
The Head of School is directly responsible to the Board for the day to day management of the school with due consideration and sensitivity to the mission, culture and ethos. It is a given that the HoS will work in healthy and respectful partnership with the Board of Governors, the Education Coordinator and a leadership team, a hands-on relationship with all staff, the parent community and students. The Head of School will be flexible, work collaboratively and establish clear communications with all school stakeholders. The Head of School holds responsibility for the Education and implementation of the Australian Steiner Curriculum, Staffing, Finance, Planning and Development. He/she is required to uphold the aims and objectives of the School, and work cooperatively with the Board to achieve these objectives.
DESIRED CRITERIA
- A demonstrated understanding and commitment to the principals of Rudolf Steiner Education.
- Demonstrated success and experience as a teacher in a Steiner School
- Demonstrated success in a Principal or high- level leadership role within a primary school setting.
- Highly collaborative leadership style
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
- Commitment to personal development
- An ability to implement the Australian Steiner Curriculum Framework
- An interest and active engagement in contemporary educational, leadership and management practices
