Situated in the suburb of Carrara, less than five kilometres from the Gold Coast CBD on a beautiful 0.6 hectare parcel of land adjacent to Emmanuel College, this Autism-friendly school is architect-designed with extensive research into best practice and inspired by ideas of routine, order, simplicity, nature, beauty and harmony.
Possessing exceptional communication and leadership skills, you will have a clear understanding of the Disability Discrimination Act (1992) and the Child Protection Act (1999), be conversant with policy compliance, staff management and training, and have extensive networks to coordinate outsourcing with services providers.
You will be an outstanding educator with experience to lead, plan and manage the College as it grows and be an enthusiastic advocate for Autism-friendly education, demonstrate excellence in your field, be prepared to commit wholeheartedly to the values and ethos of the College, and profess to a personal Christian faith.
Providing excellence in educational and pastoral care, Josiah College commenced with 16 students from Years 2-5. A high staff to student ratio ensures a safe and effective learning environment. By 2024, the College will have transitioned to Years 2-10 with a maximum of 64 students. Providing an attractive and safe environment, learning areas include well equipped classrooms, dedicated specialist rooms and open, landscaped outdoor spaces. Students attend school daily 9:00am-2:30pm.
All Josiah College staff engage in on-going critical reflection and inquiry in order to improve knowledge and skills to effectively engage students, individualise their programs and ensure successful learning.
