About the Role:

This is a fantastic opportunity for an experienced and exceptional Diploma Trained Educator to assist the Coordinator at our Out of School Hours Care Service at McCallums Hill Public School. The service operates Monday – Friday to provide Before /After School and Vacation Care support to children attending the school.  

Join us to help lead our professional team of caring and committed child care workers to deliver a quality recreational and care program for children in Years K-6. Our team works collaboratively to develop the program and to support the inclusion of all children into the service.

The Coordinator – 2nd in Charge will:

  • Play a coordinating role in the implementation of the MyTime, Our Place Framework and National Quality Standards (NQS) in the program;
  • Have well developed oral communication skills and exemplary documentation of children’s learning and development; and
  • Value positive relationships with staff and join us in providing high quality strengths based support and service to families and children.

This position is due to commence in August 2018. The successful applicant will be employed 17 hours per week Monday – Friday and will be rostered on a rotating basis across Before and After School sessions.

To be successful in this role you will need:

Essential Criteria:

  • ACECQA approved Diploma qualifications in order to act as the Nominated Supervisor and /or Responsible Person;
  • Experience as Educational Leader or 2IC in Out of School Hours Care;
  • Understanding of current childcare legislation and regulations including MTOP and NQS;
  • Capacity to build relationships with staff, parents, children and members of the school community;
  • Demonstrated commitment to leading, managing and improving the service compliance with the National Quality Framework;
  • Demonstrated experience in the active supervision and behaviour support of children aged 5-12 years;
  • Demonstrated experience in planning, programming, implementing and evaluating activities for children;
  • Demonstrated ability to ensure that the service adheres to workplace health and safety requirements;
  • Demonstrated capacity to lead and manage a team, including rostering and professional training and development;
  • Exceptional interpersonal, written and oral communication skills, including the documentation of children’s learning;
  • Current First Aid, Asthma and Anaphylaxis approved training certifications;
  • Current accredited Child Protection Training;
  • Sound computer skills; and
  • WWCC clearance.

Desirable:

  • Experience working with children with additional needs in a school setting; and
  • Managing administrative and financial matters as necessary.
