The Faculty of Engineering is seeking to appoint outstanding emerging and established academics that will become the next generation of environmental engineering leaders. These positions will provide critical capability to our world leading environmental engineering program. Addressing the issue of sustainable urban development is a major challenge for many large cities around the world as populations continue to grow. To tackle this societal problem Monash is hiring academic staff, with the drive and capability to deliver change, across all levels.
You will form part of a vibrant academic community contributing to teaching and research in the broad area of the Urban Built Environment. Our current sustainability initiatives including the Revitalising Information Settlements and their Environments program (RISE) in partnership with the United Nations University as well as our Net Zero initiative which will see the University 100% powered by renewable energy by 2030 are critical programs for the Faculty. We have excellent infrastructure including the Grid Innovation Hub and the Living Lab in support of sustainability education and research as well as support schemes that will enable talented academics to engage with important environmental challenges.
Applicants with a strong background and interest in environmental related engineering and challenges are required, particularly in the areas of:
- environmental modeling, monitoring and assessment
- soil remediation and solid waste treatment
- sustainable materials development including recycling and life cycle assessment
- geomechanics
- infrastructure adaptation to climate change
- bioenergy
- renewable energy
- water
All appointments will be made to the most relevant department (Civil / Mechanical and Aerospace / Electrical and Computer Systems, Materials Science and Engineering / Chemical) and where appropriate, candidates will be jointly appointed to multiple departments.
