ILSC Sydney, part of the ILSC Education Group, is a private college located in the heart of the Sydney CBD. We are looking for a Director of Training to join our VET team 

Basic Job Description

The Director of Training (DoT) is responsible for working with the School Director and National VET Manager to oversee the VET trainers and student support staff to ensure the successful delivery and development of VET courses and full compliance with regulatory requirements (ESOS Act/National Code and Standards for RTOs 2015) and with ILSC Policies and Procedures.

Duties

The Director of Training is responsible for:

  • Monitoring and ensuring the quality of our VET Business programs in all areas of compliance, curriculum, resources and delivery
  • Overseeing all aspects of day-to-day VET Trainer administration including: VET placements, course scheduling, new student orientation, trainer communication and notices, class assignments and performance management.
  • Managing VET Trainer recruitment, in accordance with SRTO 2015 Clause 1.13, induction and orientation; providing mentorship and guidance for new VET Trainers; scheduling trainers on delivery of units
  • VET Trainer Professional Development including scheduling and conducting regular professional development sessions and conducting trainer observations
  • Supervising any trainers who do not have a current Certificate IV in Training and Assessment qualification, or hold a skill set as identified in SRTO2015 1.18, to ensure quality of delivery in accordance the Training and Assessment matrix for each unit
  • Facilitating communication between VET trainers and ILSC management to ensure the open flow of information necessary for efficient and compliant delivery of programs.
  • Managing the Academic Intervention Strategy.
  • Participating in assessment validation processes as needed.
  • Participating in internal audits and facilitating continuous improvement in accordance with the SRTO's '15 and the National Code.
  • Identifying Industry Engagement opportunities and participate in the National IE program.
  • Liaising with staff  at ILSC Melbourne and Brisbane to ensure consistency of delivery and assessment across ILSC's three Australian schools
  • Working with the VET team nationally to ensure the provision of quality training and assessment
  • Facilitating the spirit and integrity of ILSC's VET courses and curriculum
  • Provision of reports as assigned by School Director.
  • Participating in national meetings at ILSC's various Australian locations.

Hours of work

This is a permanent full time position with a standard 38 hours week. Evenings are required.

JOB SPECIFICATION:

Level of Education and Experience Required:

  • BA Degree (in Business or Education preferred)
  • TAE40110 Certificate IV in Training and Assessment

Desired Specialized Skills in Addition to above:

  • Training experience with international students essential
  • Experience with MOODLE or similar LMS
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • A passion for education and sensitivity to the cultural and language issues facing our overseas students

Work Experience Required

  • Minimum 3 to 5 years' experience in VET industry
  • Valid work visa for Australia required (full time)
