The Opportunity

eSolutions is a dynamic and innovative team, with a goal to enable Monash to deliver the best possible academic experience and research outcomes through the provision of high-quality technology and enhanced ICT services.

We are looking for an experienced Security Systems Engineer to join our esteemed IT Security and Risk team to assist in deploying, administering and configuring security technologies for the University as well as providing a range of activities that work to protect the Universities information assets and systems.

Your key responsibilities will include but not be limited to:

  • Provide specialist advice in relation to various technology controls
  • Support forensic IT investigations related to University policy breaches
  • Prepare specialised engineering documentation to support system and security designs
  • Contribute to the maintenance of current data within the wider team and University community related to effective, good security practices

To be considered for this role you will have previous experience in a similar, fast-paced role where you have had experience deploying and supporting IT security systems. You will have an up to date knowledge of current security and risk practices and have experience in providing hands on and extensive support to a complex organisation in their goal to protect their IT systems. Ideally you will have experience with Palo Alto Firewalls, Imperva Web Application Firewalls, Splunk and Cisco Firepower and also with various web protocols and standards such as TCP/IP, HTTP, SSL, and DNS. You will be a strong communicator who can work well under pressure and be able to work well both autonomously and within a team.

This role is a full-time position; however, flexible working arrangements may be negotiated.
