Marketing and Communications Unit (MCU) is seeking to fill a current vacancy for the Internal Communication Officer. The Marketing and Communication Unit (MCU) is responsible for effectively promoting and enhancing the image and reputation of the university through the development and implementation of marketing plans, media and public relations activities, internal communication and corporate identity strategy.

The Internal Communication Officer executes official UTS communication programs for staff or students. They support mapping and surveys of these audiences, as well as helping to develop customer journeys and personas, and regularly measure staff or student engagement and advocacy. They sometimes manage major broadcast communication channels to these audiences, and provide advice, support and strategic planning to internal clients wishing to communicate with staff/students, as well as supporting improved internal communication training.

The Internal Communication Officer will report to the Internal Communication Manager (MCU) and will be part of the Internal Communication Team (MCU).

Main duties/responsibilities:

• Identify opportunities to develop relationships with staff and students by creating communication programs and strategies to promote UTS's news and achievements via various media and channels.
• Prepare and distribute key communication materials for target audiences.
• Measure and evaluate the success of internal communication activities and recommend improvements/ alternative approaches.
• Provide strategic communication advice to internal clients
• Build strategic relationships with internal clients as well as external representatives.
• Together with the Internal Communication Manager update and report on the success of the communication programs and strategies.
• Develop and maintain owned channels, and administer key communication platforms, activities and publications

Main skills/experience required:

• Very good oral and written communication skills in a variety of formats and technologies, from social media to websites and traditional article writing.
• Professional liaison, negotiation, networking and diplomacy skills - ability to liaise with senior academic and professional staff.
• Basic understanding of measurement and evaluation within internal communication.
• Demonstrated ability to manage multiple projects and competing deadlines, autonomously
• Strong digital literacy skills, including experience with web-based platforms, HTML, content management systems and Microsoft Office programs.
• Experience with effective internal communication strategies and approaches, including digital, social and traditional platforms, tools and channels.

Remuneration

Base Salary Range: $87,414 to $96,701 pa (HEW 7)

This role attracts 17% superannuation in addition to the base salary. Employee benefits include flexible work practices, child care centres, generous parental leave and salary packaging opportunities.

This position is full time and appointment will be made on a continuing basis.
