The University Communications Group leads activity to strengthen the University’s brand and reputation through media, strategic communications and digital media. University Communications is responsible for media management and training, internal communications, issues management, corporate publications, website maintenance and the production of digital assets.

The Role and Your Responsibilities

The Advisor, Digital Student Experience will support the Student Communications team and contribute to the success of the RMIT Strategy by managing a best practice communications platform that engages and informs students.

The role sits within a dynamic and creative team which delivers University-wide governance, content and communications services on behalf of stakeholders to students.

This role will focus on ensuring RMIT students have a best in class experience of the digital channels used to communicate with them. The RMIT Students website will be a major focus of the role. A key responsibility will be ensuring students are able to find relevant and accurate information at particular moments through the academic year.

Skills and Experience Required

  • Previous work as a website manager or editor with demonstrated experience in improving user experience and key website metrics
  • Significant experience with content management systems (specific experience in AEM and/or with internal
  • platforms will be well regarded)
  • Understanding of how to collect, analyse, and interpret data to advise on the development, placement and focus of content which will engage the intended audience
  • Effectively build relationships within the organisation to help achieve communications outcomes
  • Experience working with all types of media, showing examples of how to respond to communications objectives in creative and effective ways
  • Understanding of communications planning, delivery and measurement that contributes to organisational objectives
  • Experience in encouraging a workplace culture of high performance and promoting accountability for outcomes.
