The Role

In partnership with a Caseworker, the Teacher Early Childhood will be responsible for the delivery of the Playgroup program to children and families within the Pathways to Early Learning & Development (PELD) program.  You will be engaging with vulnerable and disadvantaged children and their families and supporting the Caseworker during outreach sessions and home visits.  The role is based in Ipswich with weekly site visits to Gatton.

Core Duties

  • Plan and facilitate safe and stimulating child-centred playgroup programs weekly.
  • Promote and model the value of play in the early years to parents/carers
  • Assist with child development screening using a strengths-based approach
  • Plan and implement group and individual interventions to promote child development
  • Encourage children’s learning through the promotion and modelling of positive relationships
  • Support children’s development, to better prepare them for the transition to school.
  • Undertake assessments of families in consultation with the Caseworker
  • Support the Manager Supported Programs with reporting

What You’ll Need to Succeed

  • Degree qualified Early Years Teacher.
  • Ability to obtain positive notice in the Working with Children Check (Blue Card) and any other legislatively required personal history screening as required.
  • Queensland Driver’s License
  • Good understanding of the current service context for children at risk, and effective preventative and early intervention approaches, including demonstrated experience in partnering with parents in the development of family plans which are strengths-based, outcome driven, and needs led. 
  • In-depth understanding of the Early Years Learning Framework and how it applies in an early intervention setting aimed at promoting school readiness and child development.      
  • Strong written and oral communication skills.
  • Ability to consult, collaborate and negotiate with internal and external stakeholders in a variety of forms to achieve desired outcomes.
