About the Centre

Opened in early October 2017, Torquay YMCA Early Learning Centre, located on the same site as Torquay North Primary School (interim name), will work in harmony with the community, with early learning and childhood education linking closely with the partnership with the school.

Torquay YMCA Early Learning Centre wants to be known as industry leaders in natural play, offering bush kinder programs as a part of the funded four-year-old integrated kinder and all long-day care programs. Further adding to the connection to nature and conscious living includes the centre’s partnership with environmental organisation CERES. This partnership will ensure sustainability is incorporated within the centre’s educational activities.

Our Brand New Early Learning Centre in Torquay has been growing in occupancy, offering integrated and sessional Kindergarten places for children from 6 weeks to four years old.

About the role

This exciting leadership position supports the Centre Manager in overseeing the daily operations and strategic development of the Early Learning and Community Centre. As a motivated and customer focused leader, the Early Learning Director will lead a highly engaged and dedicated team of Children's Programs staff in the exceptional delivery of the National Quality Framework in Early Learning and Before and After School Care Programs. You will experience specialist support from a diverse and caring team, as you lead community and family engagement, with children at the heart of our service philosophy.
 

Capabilities and Behaviours

• Team Development: Showcase strong leadership abilities while supporting the local team of Educators with an emphasis on collaboration, communication, empowerment and engagement.
• Business Development:  Ability to plan, develop and meet short and long-term goals to strengthen the operations of the Centre and drive strategic planning (desirable).
• Inter-personal skills:  Possess excellent verbal and written communication skills and well-developed emotional intelligence
• Excellent organisational and time management skills, including the ability to delegate, prioritise and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
   

Knowledge and Experience

• Demonstrated knowledge, skills and understanding in the implementation and ongoing management of the National Quality Framework, Victorian Early Years Framework and the Education and Care National Regulations and Act as well as current Early Childhood pedagogies.
• Stakeholder Engagement: Ability to positively network and collaborate with internal and external community stakeholders to drive community engagement and customer experience.
• Experience overseeing activities of team members
• Experience in a similar role is highly desirable
   

Qualifications

• Diploma/Certificate III or equivalent qualifications in Early Childhood / Children's Services or equivalent
• First Aid, CPR, asthma & anaphylaxis training.
• Working With Children, Safeguarding Children and Young People Certificate (Completion upon successful application)
