About the Role

YMCA WA People and Culture team is seeking a permanent part time Safeguarding Coordinator to be based at head office in Welshpool. This role will assist in the adoption and understanding of a safeguarding children and young people culture by all across the business through the implementation of organisational wide initiatives.

Duties

  • Develop initiatives to reinforce understanding and practice of Safeguarding behaviours throughout the organisation
  • Review and indorse changes to policy and process to consistently reflect current recommended practice and behaviour for Safeguarding Children and Young People
  • Ensure YMCA WA meet the guidelines of the Australian Childhood Foundation to remain accredited.
  • Maintain Safeguarding reporting registers and provide data for reports to the Board

Skills and Experience

  • Proven experience working in a role where safeguarding of children was a primary responsibility
  • Knowledge of relevant child safety, protection legislation and regulations
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal
  • Excellent interpersonal, collaboration and influencing skills
  • Experience interacting with a wide range of internal and external stakeholders
  • Knowledge of relevant issues in relation to Occupational Safety and Health and Equal Opportunity
