  • Salary range: $97,310 to $115,350 p.a. plus 17% superannuation plus district and accommodation allowances

About the team: You will be located with the Rural Clinical School of WA (RCSWA) and Kimberley Aboriginal Medical Services Inc, Broome Western Australia (WA). The Rural Clinical School of Western Australia (RCSWA) is a network of 14 rural and remote sites across the Kimberley, Pilbara, Mid-West, Goldfields, Great Southern and South West regions of Western Australia. It is collaboration between UWA and University of Notre Dame Australia, Fremantle, operating as a unit within the UWA Faculty of Health and Medical Sciences. The RCSWA is committed to providing quality teaching, research, professional development and clinical service in rural and remote settings.

About the opportunity: You will work under the guidance of the Principal Research Fellow, and in close collaboration with the Kimberley Aboriginal Medical Services Inc, to provide impetus and capacity to progress research initiatives in the Kimberley region of WA.

To be considered for this role, you will demonstrate:

  • Experience and training to a level equivalent to a Doctor of Philosophy or Masters of Applied Epidemiology in a relevant health related research field
  • A commitment to the principles of Aboriginal community control
  • Substantial experience in Aboriginal health research including working in remote settings
  • An understanding of issues that impact on the health and welling being of Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander peoples
  • Skills in quantitative health research design, analysis and reporting
  • A driver’s license (preferably for a manual vehicle, but automatic is also acceptable).

About You: You will be a skilled health researcher who can contribute to the development of this exciting new position. You will also have a genuine interest in Aboriginal health in rural and remote settings and a commitment to Aboriginal community consultation and control. In addition, you will enjoy working in a busy and varied collaborative academic environment, be comfortable working with a variety of community, Aboriginal Community Controlled and state government health service settings and be well organised to prioritise the different demands this position offers.
