Detail information about job Early Childhood Educator. Terms and conditions vacancy

Playing is not only a child’s right (UN Convention of the Rights of the Child); it has also been proven to have significantly positive effects on early childhood development. Our play-centred program supports young children to develop their social skills, independence and in turn their capacity to learn. We need you to give these children an experience of quality early childhood education, to develop their appetite for learning and help enable a smooth transition into school.

Save the Children is no ordinary not-for-profit.

We’re ambitious, creative and outspoken. We stand up for children’s rights. We want all children to be educated, healthy and live a life free from violence. We run programs in Australia and overseas and, if there’s a disaster - like an earthquake, drought or conflict - we are there on the ground.

Where you come in:

In this permanent part time position (54 hours per fortnight), you will support our team to plan and deliver a high quality program at the Nowa Nowa Kindergarten, for up to 22 children aged 3-5 years. These children come from the Nowa Nowa community, Lakes Entrance and the lake Tyers Aboriginal Trust. You will support the Kindergarten Teacher to implement a culturally sensitive and inclusive program that is responsive to community needs. You will be part of our Australian Programs team and report to the Kindergarten teacher.

You will make an impact by:

  • Supporting the development and implementation of high quality, developmentally appropriate education and care programs
  • Providing stimulating, safe, nurturing and holistic programs that are responsive to children, family and community needs
  • Transporting children safely to and from the service in our 12 seater bus

If we could compose the perfect you…

… You have experience in early childhood programs, a ‘toolkit’ of strategies and the ability to think on your feet. Your exceptional cultural knowledge will help you build strong connections with children and families from varying cultural and socio-economic backgrounds. You consider yourself a team player; you love partnerships, collaboration and have an ‘all-hands-on-deck’ attitude.

This role requires:

  • Cert III or Diploma qualification in Early Childhood
  • Experience in providing a range of learning experiences to stimulate children’s learning, development and wellbeing
  • An understanding of child development
  • Proven ability to work as part of an integrated team
  • Highly developed communication and interpersonal skills
  • Current valid driver’s licence and confidence to safely transport children to and from the service

Working at Save the Children is more than just a job.

It’s the feeling of knowing that your work is contributing to making the world a better place for children and working with others who feel the same. We offer a competitive salary including generous salary packaging benefits, a friendly and flexible work environment, and great career opportunities - both locally and internationally.
