About the Program

In October 2017, the Victorian State Government opened a men's medium security prison Ravenhall Correctional Centre (RCC), in Melbourne’s west. The prison houses both sentenced and remanded prisoners with a 75-bed forensic mental health inpatient beds together with outpatient services. Melbourne City Mission (MCM) is part of the alliance group that will deliver programs and services at the new facility. MCM programs include employment and education, family services, parenting and life skills as well as pre and post release case management support.

Ravenhall Correctional Centre is based on the Good Lives Model, which has an ethical basis in human rights, and recognizes that the best way to reduce re-offending is to support and enhance the capabilities and well-being of men in prison.

About the role

The purpose of the Educator is to plan and deliver flexible and engaging VCAL curriculum at RCC, with a focus on literacy and numeracy. This is a unique opportunity to provide vital education programs to men who are working towards meaningful reintegration back into the community.
