Temporary Part-Time Position (Term 3 and 4 2018)
MAJOR ACCOUNTABILITIES:
- Actively support, and live out the school's Declaration of Faith, Strategic Plan, Mission Statement and IB Philosophy.
- Engage professionally with colleagues
- Act professionally and courteously towards parents/carers and wider community
- Assist in setting up creative and inspiring learning spaces both inside and outside the classroom.
- Assist in the daily clean-up of the learning environment both indoors and outdoors.
- Assist in the preparation of teaching resources, including photocopying and preparing visuals.
- Assist the classroom teacher with those children who have special learning needs- particularly during table activities, mat time, eating time, toileting and during specialist lessons (Music, PE and Chinese).
- Work one to one with students on individual programs devised by the Learning Support Teachers. These programmes may be academic or programs devised by a speech therapist, occupational therapist or other specialist personnel or programs devised from a student's IEP (Individual Education Plan). This is in conjunction with the classroom teacher.
ESSENTIAL SKILLS / QUALIFICATIONS:
- Certificate III in Children Services or equivalent
- Current First Aid Certificate, including CPR
- Intermediate level IT skills and competence; specifically, in Microsoft Office & Skype, and Synergetic (or competence with a workplace database system)
- Demonstrated oral and written communication skills
- Attention to detail and high-level organisational ability
- Proven ability to work as a constructive member of a team with a professional, courteous manner
- Current Working With Children Check (WWCC)
DESIRABLE SKILLS / QUALIFICATIONS:
- Experience working in a school environment or early childhood setting.
- Certification in Education Support
- Anaphylaxis Training
- Ability or skills in creative or visual arts; capacity when planning and setting up learning experiences
