Young Academics Early Learning Centre is seeking an enthusiastic permanent Part Time Centre Cook - potential to become Full Time - Immediate Start.

The Role:

To be responsible for preparing nutritionally balance meals created in conjunction with a nutritionist, placing the orders and assisting the Centre Manager with the food budget. Maintaining a safe and hygienic kitchen ensuring that food is sorted, handled and stored properly and the appropriate records are maintained.

The position available is:

Permanent Part Time - 5 days per week. Hours may vary depending on qualifications, experience and utilisation of the Centre

Key Responsibilities, include but are not limited to:

• Preparing morning tea, lunch and afternoon tea for our Centre located in Rouse Hill
• Placing the weekly orders in accordance with the menu and remaining within the allocated budget
• Proven ability to comply with and be responsible for Safe Health and Hygiene Practices in the preparation, serving and storing of meals
• Completing the appropriate checks as required
• Coordinating with the Centre Manager in respects to the budget.
• If you have a Certificate III in Childcare, you may also need to help out with the children from time to time.

To be successful in this role you will:

• Have or willing to obtain appropriate qualifications (or employer approved equivalent) in food handling, food preparation and food safety,
• Possess excellent written and verbal communication skills
• Have demonstrated previous experience working within a kitchen,  preferably within a Childcare setting, or similar service industry kitchen
• Be aware of the guidelines set by the NSW Food Authority 
• Have professional and friendly interactive skills
• Be an excellent team player with self-motivation and the ability to work independently
• Have good time management skills
• Be able to make adjustments to meals to cater for different dietary requirements
• Have a flexible and enthusiastic attitude
• Be able to multitask 
• Knowledge and understanding of allergies and dietary requirements
• Desirable - Certificate III in childcare/children's services 
• Desirable - experience out on the floor within a childcare setting
• Have or be willing to obtain a current Working with Children's Check
