Baxter Institute is registered training provider (RTO) located in Melbourne's CBD. We offer Vocational training courses, ELICOS and EAL courses. We have experienced a tremendous growth in the last few years, from both domestic and international markets.

At present we are looking for a suitable candidate for the position of English Course Coordinator.

Position Summary:

The key focus of this role is to provide leadership to the Baxter Institute English staff and to coordinate the delivery of the Programs including: General English; English for Academic Purposes; EAL.

The role is expected to make a significant contribution to the teaching effort of Baxter Institute through demonstrated commitment to team membership, the provision of a professional and effective teaching service to the students, and effective communication at all levels of Baxter Institute.

In addition to teaching responsibilities, this role will have specific responsibilities to ensure the quality of teaching delivery and program content is of the highest standard which includes: monitoring program delivery; guiding and coordinating the development of curriculum and resources; and mentoring and supporting teaching staff.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Coordinate the design, implementation and evaluation of effective teaching programs
  • Provide leadership and professional support to a team of English teachers
  • Guide and coordinate the development and operation of specific areas of responsibility
  • Communicate with Management, provide regular feedback to the Management team regarding issues in English courses and staffing
  • Leading the English teaching staff
  • Maintain currency of knowledge in specialist teaching area
  • Other reasonable responsibilities and duties as determined by management from time to time
  • Within this role there will be some teaching responsibilities.

Selection Criteria: 

  • An education degree, suitable postgraduate TESOL qualification/s, and appropriate TESOL teaching experience or equivalent to meet standards required by the national regulator ASQA.
  • At least three years educational management experience in an ELICOS centre in Australia.
  • Demonstrated expertise in ELICOS, EAL curriculum development, review and implementation.
  • Demonstrated communication and interpersonal skills with the proven ability to build effective relationships with all stakeholders.
  • Demonstrated experience in leading people, including the demonstrated ability to coach staff.
  • Demonstrated ability to maintain an up-to-date knowledge of significant developments in TESOL theory and practice and also learning and teaching technologies and resources.
  • Demonstrated knowledge and experience with programs subject to external regulatory requirements such as ASQA, ESOS, ELICOS Standards and the National Code
  • Experience in Skills First Program
  • Strong time management and organisational skills
  • Demonstrated ability to work effectively as part of a team and independently
  • Strong, positive focus on service to students
  • Sound ability to develop, deliver, assess and evaluate training qualifications.
  • Ability to operate equipment and software
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office including Word, Excel and Outlook
  • Familiar with Learning Management System (Moodle)
