About the role

The Wollotuka Centre of Indigenous Engagement and Advancement (CIEA) supports innovation, entrepreneurship and collaboration to facilitate the achievement of quality outcomes that prioritises Indigenous students, and in particular, prepares Indigenous graduates who make a difference and to create impact within UON, in our communities and across the globe.

This role supports the Student Advancement Manager and leads Indigenous Student Advancement Officers in the delivery of exceptional student/client centred service to Indigenous students to increase access, participation, retention and success of Indigenous students.

The role is responsible for managing and resolving complex student issues and complaints that have been escalated by the Student Advancement Officers.

The role is responsible for student academic advancement and engagement activities across the Ourimbah campus of the University.

Skills and experience

To be successful in this position, the following Essential Criteria is required:

  • Aboriginality is a genuine occupational qualification and is authorised under Section 14 of the NSW Anti-Discrimination Act 1977;
  • A relevant degree with at least four years subsequent relevant experience; or extensive experience and management expertise in administrative fields; or an equivalent combination of relevant experience and/or education/training;
  • Demonstrated experience in working with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples, and a knowledge and understanding of the contributions, successes and challenges relating to Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples;
  • Ability to show leadership and exceptional interpersonal skills by empowering staff to meet high standards and delivery of targets whilst actively managing performance to achieve positive outcomes;
  • Demonstrated experience in program development, implementation and evaluation;
  • Outstanding oral and written communication skills including demonstrated experience with funding reporting requirements;
  • Demonstrated experience in taking ownership and driving innovation, process improvement, while delivering to plan and on time;
  • Demonstrated organisational skills and the ability to meet competing deadlines with a demonstrated ability to be proactive and apply initiative;
  • Demonstrated knowledge of workplace obligations to, and experience in leading and cultivating workplace practices and behaviours that promote, support and maintain a safe, healthy, equitable, diverse and respectful workplace; including responding appropriately to adverse accidents, incidents, behaviours, issues, reports and the like.

HEW 7 from $84,302 per annum plus contributory superannuation with Unisuper, attracting a generous employer contribution of 17%.
