A rewarding opportunity is currently available for a Converged Network Engineer to join the Infrastructure Services team to provide effective support of the University’s corporate Data Voice and Video network systems, including the Wired, Wireless and Intercampus WAN environments.

What you’ll do

Reporting to the Senior Network Engineer, you will be responsible for the design, analysis, operational performance and management of data, video and voice telecommunications networks and services used by the University community. In particular, you will:
  • participate in regular network maintenance programs in accordance with vendor instructions, including network equipment IOS upgrades;
  • manage and deliver highly complex technical infrastructure services – Video conferencing systems, IP VoIP Systems, Call Centre systems, Voicemail, Expressway, Video Conferencing and associated data voice and video network infrastructure;
  • provide technical and administrative support, professional advice and assistance, to other staff within Networks as required; and
  • participate in the troubleshooting of data, video and voice telecommunications networks to identify and correct malfunctions and other issues, and assist in the provision of high-level support where required.
What will help you succeed?

Your analytical and problem solving skills, strong customer service ethic and ability to communicate effectively with a wide range of internal and external stakeholders will see you make a positive contribution to the university and ICT Services.

Experience with ITIL Foundations, Cisco UCCX, Cisco Webex, Zoom and advanced routing and switching skills eg. VRF, MPLS will also be desirable. Specifically you will have:
  • a Degree with major studies in computing or a relevant discipline and significant subsequent relevant experience in the provision of secure, high-availability, data and voice telecommunications network services for a large organisation with a geographically diverse, multi-platform environment, or extensive experience and expertise in an appropriate technical field, or equivalent combination of relevant experience and/or education/training;
  • minimum CISCO CCNA qualifications preferably in collaboration and extensive practical experience maintaining high end CISCO networking and video conferencing products in a production environment, including Catalyst, Nexus router/switch’s, wireless access points and controllers, Call Manager (CUCM), TMS, VCS, Spark and SX video endpoints;
  • demonstrated experience with enterprise-grade Network hardware/software, Protocols (TCPIP, DHCP, RADIUS, TACACs etc), Routing Protocols (OSPF, EIGRP. BGP) LAN Protocols and technologies; and
  • working knowledge and demonstrated understanding of data and voice cable plant, cabling standards, carrier services and technologies, including copper, optic fibre, microwave and satellite.

Salary: Total remuneration range $96,880 to $107,126 pa (includes salary range of $81,861 to $90,519 pa, employer superannuation contributions of 17% of salary and annual leave loading)
