We are doctors for the machine world!  A privately owned hydraulic engineering company providing service and solutions for close to 30 years.  We offer our customers a one-stop hydraulic shop and the skills of a highly trained and knowledgeable team.

The Opportunity

As the workshop trainer, you will provide professional teaching and vocational expertise across all aspects
of the trade to deliver Certificate III in Engineering.

  • Working closely with a small group, provide training and support in fitting, machining, and fabrication for apprentices and trainees;
  • Ensure high quality and relevant teaching delivery;
  • Engage students and support learner success to meet outcomes and goals of both the student and Hydraulic Doctors objectives;
  • Deliver planned teaching sessions, both theory as well as hands on in our workshop;
  • As required, work closely with individuals to train, guide and supervise the completion of jobs;
  • Responsible for organising materials and maintenance of equipment for training;
  • Identify and develop pathways to success for learners that enhance the student experience, retention and employability skills;
  • Liaise with Management to provide regular feedback on student progress
  • Pro-actively seek and be involved with opportunities to grow and showcase the metal engineering trades in the region;

This position is offered as a part-time role 3 days a week (salary pro-rata).  However, there is a possibility, if it suits the candidate, that this could be a full-time role with a focus and priority on training and then trades assistant/other duties as required.

You will have:

  • Effective communication & organisation skills, with the ability to deliver and assess training in the Mechanical Fitter/Machinist trade;
  • Certificate III in Engineering Mechanical - essential;
  • Certificate IV in Training & Assessment desirable but training could be provided;
  • Industry experience in a jobbing workshop and a background in training would be advantageous;
  • Post trade hydraulics would be held in high regard.
