A national RTO, and one of Sydney’s Largest English Language Schools is experiencing huge growth in student numbers, with established schools in 7 locations around the world. Including Vancouver, Toronto, Montreal, New Delhi, Brisbane, Melbourne and Sydney.

Due to continuous growth and recognition, this successful RTO and language school is looking for a Training Director / Training Manager to help manage and maintain the organisation’s high standards of academic excellence and service.

Job Description:
As the Director of Training, you will be responsible for monitoring and ensuring the quality of VET Business programs in all areas of compliance, curriculum, resources and delivery.

You will also be overseeing all aspects of day-to-day VET Trainer administration including: VET placements, course scheduling, new student orientation, teacher communication and notices, class assignments and performance management.

You will also get the opportunity to develop, foster and instill the ILSC philosophy to the new staff through participation in public relations events, CSR initiatives, staff meetings and training sessions.

This engaging and interesting role will give you influence and input into many areas across the organisation.

Job Duties:

  • Managing VET Trainer recruitment, in accordance with SRTO 2015 Clause 1.13
  • Induction, orientation, mentoring and guiding new VET Trainers
  • Scheduling trainers on delivery of units
  • VET Trainer Professional Development - including scheduling and conducting regular professional development sessions and trainer observations
  • Supervising any trainers who do not have a current Certificate IV in Training and Assessment qualification, or hold a skill set as identified in SRTO2015 1.18, to ensure quality of delivery in accordance the Training and Assessment matrix for each unit
  • Facilitating communication between VET trainers and ILSC management to ensure the open flow of information for efficient and compliant delivery of programs
  • Working with the VET team to manage the Intervention Strategy for students identified as at risk, recording the process and outcomes and conducting Intervention meetings.
  • Participating in assessment validation processes as requested.
  • Participating in internal audits and facilitating continuous improvement in accordance with the SRTO’s ’15 and the National Code.
  • Identify Industry Engagement opportunities and participate in the National IE program.
  • Other tasks and projects assigned by the Campus Director and the National VET Coordinator.
  • Liaising with staff at ILSC Melbourne and Brisbane - to ensure consistency of delivery and assessment across ILSC’s three Australian schools
  • Working with the VET team nationally to ensure the provision of quality training and assessment
  • Facilitating the spirit and integrity of ILSC’s VET courses and curriculum
  • Provision of various reports as identified in the VET Compliance Performance Indicator Dashboard.


Skills and Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree (preferably in Education)
  • TAE40116 Cert IV in Training and Assessment
  • 2 - 5 years’ experience in a managerial position
  • 3 years+ of experience in the RTO industry
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Demonstrated knowledge of ASQA and relevant industry standards
  • Committed to delivering quality outcomes
  • Excellent written and verbal communication
  • Sound time management, prioritisation, planning, and decision-making skills
  • Reliable, trustworthy, empathetic, and approachable disposition
