The Institute for Glycomics is a flagship biomedical research institute at Griffith University's Gold Coast Campus. The Institute has some of Australia's most renowned research leaders who undertake multidisciplinary research investigating the roles of carbohydrates in biology, including infectious diseases and cancer. An understanding of these roles can be used to generate strategies to diagnose, and to prevent and/or treat disease. The Institute's research focus is on the chemical biology of carbohydrates, based on the three key scientific disciplines biology, chemistry and the structural and analytical sciences.

The opportunity
The Research Assistant position will work closely with the Early Career Research Leader to provide major assistance in bench-based research, data collection, management, analysis and project reporting. The position may provide some administrative assistance to the Early Career Research Leader.

This is a full time, fixed term position based at the Gold Coast campus for 12 months.

About you
The successful candidate will hold a Bachelors Degree with Honours in a biological science; or an equivalent combination of qualifications and/or experience. You will have demonstrated experience in cell culture, immunological assays (e.g. ELISA), molecular biology (e.g. RT-qPCR) and modern virology techniques. You will also have experience with animal based research (e.g. working with mouse models).

Salary range
Research Assistant Grade 1: $61,459 - $65,090 per annum + superannuation.
