Duration: The professorial appointment will be continuing and will include the role of head of department for a period of up to five years with the possibility of extension.

Remuneration: A competitive remuneration package will be negotiable. Relocation travel, removal allowance and salary packaging are available.

The Opportunity

Monash is seeking an outstanding candidate to manage and lead The Department of Medical Imaging and Radiation Sciences within The School of Primary and Allied Health Care (SPAHC), Faculty of Medicine Nursing and Health Sciences. The Department of Medical Imaging and Radiation Sciences is one of six departments of the School of Primary and Allied Health Care. The School currently includes the Departments of General Practice, Community Emergency Health and Paramedic Practice, Occupational Therapy, Physiotherapy, Social Work and Medical Imaging and Radiation Sciences. 

Since its foundation in 1998, the Department has offered a number of accredited and qualifying programs within medical radiations. The staff in the Department are actively involved in both clinical, educational and laboratory based research and collaborate with many scientific institutions and clinical centres across Australia and overseas. 

The successful candidate will aim to prepare students for effective and ethical professional practice and to pursue careers in radiography, medical ultrasound, radiation therapy, research and more broadly in the field of radiation sciences. 

The purpose of this position is also to capitalise and build on both existing and future educational and research strengths to create a high-performing team of academics and professional staff who not only provide outstanding educational opportunities to the students in the school but also, contribute to the research strategy and output of the School.

The successful candidate should also be capable of representing Monash and its interests in large scale, joint initiatives. This is an exceptional opportunity to both lead the department and make a major contribution to building education and research at the Clayton Campus.

It would be great if you already have a proven track record of individual research excellence and evidence of leadership through building and developing capability in an academic or research environment.
