The Pro-Vice Chancellor (Education) portfolio within the Deputy Vice Chancellor (Academic) Division has the responsibility for providing leadership in the development and implementation of strategic initiatives in learning and teaching through the enhancement of approaches to curriculum design and delivery, the effective use of online technologies, the design and management of effective learning environments for students and the development and renewal of academic policies and quality assurance processes.
The newly formed Student Academic and Career Success unit within the PVC (E) Portfolio will support the achievement of the University 2025 Strategy and DVC (A) mission by providing critical support services to UNSW academics and students aimed at enabling students to achieve academic success and strengthening their career outcomes.
About the role
- TRP to be negotiated with the successful candidate
- 17% superannuation plus leave loading
- Full-time (35 hours per week)
The Academic Director, Student Academic and Career Success will be responsible for setting the overall strategic direction and leadership of academic advising and skills support to enable UNSW students to achieve academic success and improved career outcomes. The Academic Director will work collaboratively with internal and external stakeholders to ensure career development learning and employability are integrated into the academic curriculum and will also oversee the traditional careers services for careers advice, careers skills as well as the employer connection.
About the successful applicant
To be successful in this role you will:
- Be an accomplished Associate Professor or Professor
- Have a PhD in a relevant discipline area and an outstanding research record as evidenced by publications in top-tier journals
- Have a passion for change and leading from the front
- A record of outstanding achievement in a University or professional setting with outstanding contributions to learning and teaching, and in supervision, at undergraduate and postgraduate levels
- A distinguished record of academic excellence with an outstanding contribution to teaching and research at both undergraduate and postgraduate levels
- Demonstrated experience in build and driving strategic outcomes
- Proven expert experience in leadership throughout the student lifecycle, with specialist knowledge in the assessment and career support requirements of academics
- Highly advanced communication skills, ability to engage with various stakeholders to gain successful outcomes
- Evidence of leadership and strategic engagement in service, projects or roles within a university setting
- Ability and capacity to direct and monitor the implementation and effectiveness of the safety management system
