This is a perfect opportunity for Certificate III and Diploma Qualified educators to join one of the leaders in early childhood education. KU Children's Services provides our staff with the expertise and the support and it is this wealth of knowledge and experience that allows KU to enrich the lives of more than 15,000 children and families each year through over 150 services and programs.

One of these programs consists of our Adult Migrant English Program (AMEP), our AMEP are establishing a small temporary community early childhood service in Mayfield, close to Newcastle, in the Hunter region.

We are recruiting for four educators for a contract until December 2018 with a possibility for extension to next year. 

The Program

AMEP Mayfield will be a small community child care service for up to 20 children per day between 8:45am - 2:45pm and you would be working 6 hours between 8:15am and 3:30pm Monday - Thursday (and potentially Friday). There is also a floater position to work 4 hours per day Monday - Thursday (and potentially Friday). The service will be opening on 6 August 2018 with interviews taking place on 27 July 2018 in our Mayfield office.

The impact you'll have

 

  • work as a member of a co-operative team in order to provide an appropriate educational program for the children within her/his care.
  • ensure that children’s developmental plans are documented, planned, implemented and evaluated.
  • ensure that up to date records are maintained for each child under that persons care.
  • direct responsibility for the management of a group or groups of children.
  • ensure that the policies of KU and the funding authorities are implemented in providing appropriate care and educational programs for children.

What we’re looking for?

We want you to be as passionate about early childhood education and as committed to achieving positive outcomes as we are. In addition you will have:

  • A current NSW Working with Children Check.
  • Work rights to enable you to work in Australia
  • Recognised Diploma level of qualification in Children’s Services or similar as approved by Australian Children’s Education and Quality Authority (ACECQA)
  • Sound understanding of the Education and Care Services National Law(2010) and the Education and Care Services National Regulations(2011)
  • Working knowledge of the Early Years Learning Frameworks (EYLF)(VEYLF)
  • Professional level of written and verbal communication skills
  • Current training in Child Protection legislation and its implications for the care and protection of children
  • A current First Aid certificate which includes Asthma and Anaphylaxis Management training
  • Demonstrated computer literacy skills
