Australian College of Applied Business (ACAB) is one of the progressive Registered Training Organisations (RTOs) based in Canberra, ACT. The college is currently offering certificate to diploma level courses in business to domestic students and corporate clients, with a plan to extend the scope of registration in the near future. The college is awaiting registration as a provider of educational services to overseas students (CRICOS) and looking to expand its team to support the new operations.

We are seeking expressions of interest from qualified Director of Studies/Academic Managers or candidates with high-level/managerial work experience in RTO, TAFE or University environments. The position assumes a leadership role in setting, implementing and reviewing the academic programs of the college, managing academic operations, ensuring exceptional levels of customer service and student satisfaction and leadership and development of college staff.

To be successful in this role, applicants must meet the following criteria:
 

  • A Master’s Degree or above in business or management related domains/fields;
  • At least 5 years’ experience in an academic leadership or a management role in a training or education environment;
  • Highly developed skills of leadership, team-building, networking and management;
  • Proven ability, commitment and passion for engaging in academic activities, and taking a leadership role;
  • Proven ability to manage academic processes, regulatory compliance, and to ensure academic excellence and integrity;
  • Excellent knowledge of and experience in managing compliance under the Standards for RTOs 2015 and The National Code 2018;
  • High level interpersonal skills and proven ability to manage effective relationships with senior management, colleagues, students, and external stakeholders, and to develop and maintain strong professional links with relevant industry and the community;
  • Ability to engage with universities and higher education institutions for pathway and partnership discussions and negotiations;
  • Experience in planning and managing internal and external reviews, compliance audits, industry consultation and engagement, and assessment validations;
  • Experience in recruiting, inducting, and managing academic staff, and managing staff performance;
  • Demonstrated commitment to the highest ethical, personal and professional standards in all aspects of leadership and work;
  • Experience in managing student-related matters (domestic and international cohorts) including academic counselling, student discipline, student progress and enhancement of the student experience in a multi-cultural environment;
  • Ability to plan, organise and achieve work targets, sometimes in demanding circumstances and work harmoniously and constructively with academic colleagues and other college staff; and
  • High level computer skills including the Microsoft Office package (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
