AFL SportsReady is an independent, not-for-profit company, established in 1994, which is dedicated to helping young Australians to develop careers through traineeships and educational opportunities.

We have kick-started the careers of approximately 13,000 young jobseekers, including over 1,500 Indigenous Australians, and helped develop over 700 sporting organisations and other businesses across Australia.

SportsReady Education is the education arm of AFL SportsReady and a Registered Training Organisation (RTO), specialising in traineeship education delivery. Each year, we deliver training to over 450 trainees across the country encompassing Business, Sport & Recreation, Fitness/ Elite Athletes, and Finance. The Education team is a small, high performing, collaborative and hard working team. They focus on ensuring education is designed and delivered to a high quality, while working very closely with, and supporting our team of Educators right across the country. We have an excellent track record and reputation for delivering high quality education, with effective administration and compliance, and maintain excellent working relationships with external and internal stakeholders.

ROLE OVERVIEW

We are currently seeking our new Education Coordinator - Quality and Design (Sport), to join our team at our head office in Abbotsford, Melbourne.  

Reporting to the Senior Educator - Quality and Design, you'll have significant autonomy and influence in reviewing, improving and supporting our education offerings.  You'll join a friendly and supportive yet passionate team who are dedicated to improving and growing AFL SR's education offerings, on a national basis. You will gain an in-depth understanding of all areas of SportsReady's education offerings, as well as how the company operates more broadly. You'll also be provided with a genuine opportunity to apply your expertise in sport to generate change and improvement of our offerings and resources.

Supported by the Senior Educator - Quality and Design, and the rest of the team, you'll play an important role in reviewing and improving our offerings, and providing specialist advice to our Educators, with a particular focus on sport and fitness.

The key responsibilities of the role include:

  • Support AFL SR’s national team of educators for training and assessment activities.
  • Coordinate teaching and learning activities.
  • Design and review course content and resources.
  • Complete relevant RTO administration and other reporting.

BENEFITS

  • Base salary between $70,000 and $75,000 per annum (commensurate with experience).
  • + superannuation at 9.5% of base salary.
  • Part time and flexible work arrangements will be considered for this position (part time to 3.5 days per week).
  • 5 weeks total leave per year (4 weeks annual and 1 week gratis).
  • Additional 2 days of cultural leave for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander team members.
  • Support for professional development, and opportunity to undertake courses offered by SportsReady Education.
  • Located at our head office in Abbotsford, Melbourne, close to parks, cafes and walking trails.

Please note that this is a fixed term position - 1 year after commencement of employment.

SELECTION CRITERIA

The selection criteria for this position are:

  • Relevant tertiary qualifications (Certificate IV in Training and Assessment or equivalent)
  • Vocational qualifications relevant to or above the level required for the teaching discipline (AQF Level 5) and industry currency (sport or fitness)
  • Demonstrated experience or understanding in training, including developing resources, developing flexible training solutions, ensuring training and assessment is compliant
  • Demonstrated experience in coordinating learning and assessment, including timetabling
  • Effective written and verbal communication skills
  • Demonstrated ability to follow systems and processes to maintain accurate records
  • Demonstrated understanding and practice of respect for people across a range of backgrounds and cultures.
  • Desirable - Proficiency with JobReady application
  • Desirable - An understanding of the requirements of traineeships

An up to date working with children's check is also a requirement for this role.
